Our Story

In 2017, the Board of Directors of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home District recognized the need for an integrated Child Learning Center within their Skilled Nursing Facilities. They believed that if they were able to address the needs of both of these groups of people in one setting, there would be common benefits to each. The Board recognized there were needs in the youngest of our community to better prepare them for their futures by providing quality early education, access to technology and learning, and reestablishment of respect and value for the elderly. “Building a Community, One Child at a Time” became their mission. At the same time, the oldest of our community members benefit greatly emotionally and psychologically with intergenerational activities and personal contact with the children.

The Good Shepherd Child Learning Center was established in the lower level of the Laurie Care Center, built and licensed for up to 60 children. The spacious environment includes computer labs and a quiet study hall, both with access to online learning via technology. A large playground was constructed adjacent to the building which includes the protective shock absorbing surfaces, play stations, and a basketball court. The Board is dedicated to developing the future leaders for our communities while embracing our mothers and fathers and ensuring the quality of everyone’s lives, because we are “Families Caring For FamiliesTM”

Prewash cotton before you start to sew. Fabric must be tight weaved and color-fast so when washed in hot water will not bleed.

Your time and talent can greatly impact our ability to care for our community and help ensure our safety as we do so.  Fabric mask offer the benefit to be able to be washed and re-used. They don’t have to be stylish just functional. Non matching fabric, thread and elastics are fine. It just needs to be a well sewn mask, with no frayed edges or missed seams.
